Govt. Girls College, Katni, was established in 1967 as a private college by Katni Shiksha Parishad. Govt. Girls College was taken over by the Government of Madhya Pradesh on 1 October 1982. The College is affiliated to Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur.

Sports & Library facilities are available to the students. In 2001-2002 M.A. in Sociology and B.Com First Year were started by Janbhagidari Samiti under the self-financing scheme. After that in 2003-2004 again under the self-finance scheme the college got the permission from the Higher Education Department to start P.G. classes in Arts and Science and after the inspection of affiliation committee of Jabalpur University in the month of November 2003, the college started M.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics and M.A. in Political Science, Sociology and Economics.

Admission Eligibility & Examination

  • Admissions to all programmes of study will be given as per the guidelines provided by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Rani Durgawati Vishwa Vidyalya, Jabalpur.
  • The Principal will declare number of seats for each class at the beginning of the session depending upon the facilities available in the college.
  • Admissions and allocation of subjects as desired by the student will be made strictly on the basis of merit taking into consideration the marks obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination.
  • The list of candidates will be put up for display on the College Notice Board. No individual notice will be given. Students should see the notice boards regularly.
  • Last date of admission for each class will be displayed on College Notice Board.
  • Admission to only II & III year degree courses for students from other institution will be given on the basis of merit, if seats are available after giving admission to regular students of this College.
  • Maximum age limit for admission to undergraduate classes is 22 years and for postgraduate classes (previous year) is 25 years but for female candidate age is no bar.
  • Relaxation of age up to three years is permissible for students belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories.
  • Reservation of Seats as per government rules.
